Walter Sanchez
Walther Sánchez is a visual artist who graduated with honors from the National University of San Agustín in Arequipa, Peru.
Sánchez develops a queer painting style that reinterprets the language of classical, religious, and neoclassical art from a dissident perspective, transforming wounds, desire, gender, and marginality into highly poetic visual mediums.
In his painting, the human figure often appears as a contemporary martyr, a profane saint, a tragic lover, a body eroticized by wounds, an identity overwhelmed by desire and faith.
