Judy Welslau, 37 | Self-taught artist

A single mother, founder and mother of two, Judy Welslau originally comes from the field of office management and speaks six languages. She found her way to art late in life - but with full passion. Until the pandemic, creativity played hardly any role in her life. Today, it is at the centre of her work. She recently completed further training as an art therapy practitioner.

Her works - predominantly acrylic on canvas - are raw, honest and deliberately provocative. For her, political and socially critical themes are not stylistic devices, but an expression of an attitude that seems more important today than ever before. This is exactly what drives Judy. Her art is her unfiltered, honest and often uncomfortable position on issues about which many prefer to remain silent.
