In my work "the red sea" I play with the euphemism for menstruation of the same name.

During my period, I created a print of my vulva on paper. Added to the image is a photograph of my hand, "keeping an eye on" the oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, who is depicted in a newspaper clipping. Cousteau was a French diving pioneer, known, among other things, for his research in the Red Sea.

Above the photograph is the phrase "enjoy with caution". It is intended as a playful yet subtle invitation to approach the menstrual blood on the paper – the "Red Sea" – respectfully, to observe it, and to explore it with curiosity.

The work questions societal taboos and opens up a new perspective on something that is everyday, yet still marked by shame and invisibility.
