Roger Louis Preston earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Cum Laude) from Virginia Commonwealth University (USA). His education in fine arts and fashion design initially led him to a successful career in window display. As a visual director, Preston used this platform to translate his artistic visions into painting, sculpture, photography, and interior design, creating his own immersive visual worlds within the limited space of a shop window.
The recognition of his work – which, among other things, served as backdrops for installations by renowned companies such as Hermès, Tiffany & Co., Barneys New York, and Saks Fifth Avenue – encouraged him to present his work as independent fine art.
Today, Preston works beyond fixed categories, deliberately moving between figurative and abstract visual language. His works defy clear classification and are created using a wide variety of techniques. He combines oil stick, oil paint, varnish, plaster, graphite, charcoal, watercolor, and gold leaf, among other materials, to create multi-layered surfaces and atmospheric compositions.
Among his most important influences are both the Old Masters and artists such as Francis Bacon, Odilon Redon, Franz von Stuck, Frank Auerbach, and William Turner. Creating mystery and ambiguity is central to his work. His works invite viewers to ask questions and develop their own interpretations, without providing a definitive answer.

Preston says of his work:
"Finding one's own path is a complex task. I've learned that only by exploring many different paths can one discover a true direction and understand oneself. My art is about joy and regret, hope and loss. Images of light and darkness are expressions of life – within them lie those fulfillments and tremors that awaken us and make us aware that we are alive."
