Marvincicode is a Hamburg-based artist whose work navigates between abstract figuration, urban aesthetics, and contemporary painting. His unmistakable visual language is characterized by stylized heads with a single eye—a recurring motif representing perception, identity, and emotional states. In his works, contrasts collide: control and spontaneity, tranquility and ecstasy, black-and-white compositions and precisely placed bursts of color. Using acrylics, markers, and influences from street art, he develops a raw yet sensitive visual world that addresses personal experiences, queer identity, and interpersonal dynamics.
In addition to traditional canvas painting, Marvin Cicode creates large-format works in public spaces as well as projects in the context of club culture, exhibitions, and cultural collaborations. His works consciously move between urban art and gallery work, combining both worlds into a distinctive artistic position. This results in both intimate studio works and expansive installations and wall designs that directly interact with their surroundings.
A significant part of his artistic development involves exhibitions and projects within Hamburg's cultural scene. His works have been presented, among others, at the Art Light District group exhibitions, including the exhibition in the Gleishalle Oberhafen in Hamburg. Additionally, his works have been shown in the Jupiter building (formerly Saturn) in Hamburg. In parallel, he has realized several large-format wall designs in Hamburg's club and bar scene.
Among his notable projects is the design of the entrance tunnel of the techno club La Cova on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg. This large-format work, spanning several meters, translates his characteristic figures into an immersive space, connecting club culture with contemporary art. Further wall designs were created for Daddy's Bar and Tom's Saloon in Hamburg, among others.
Furthermore, Marvin Cicode has realized several large-format street art works, including painted containers for an allotment garden association and for the sports club SV Bethen. In addition to these public projects, numerous of his canvas works are held in private collections.
Another milestone is his participation in the international exhibition "The Other Me" in Venice. The work displayed there explores identity, self-image, and internal contradictions, expanding his artistic practice into an international exhibition context.
Currently, Marvin Cicode is also working on the design of a large-format CSD Pride Truck for the Hamburg techno club La Cova. This project combines his characteristic visual language with queer visibility in public space, translating his figures into a mobile, multi-meter installation as part of Christopher Street Day.
