Male Shibari
For about ten years, Shibari/Kinbaku has been my great passion. I first encountered this special form of Japanese rope art at an exhibition by the Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. His photographs of bound people immediately fascinated me and sparked my interest in this art form.
I then began training as a rigger with teachers from Europe and Japan. A workshop with Nuria Shurigura was particularly formative for my further development and has had a lasting influence on my way of working.
In my studio in Hamburg, I combine my passion for Shibari/Kinbaku with my passion for photography. The studio offers special and globally unique opportunities for staging bondage photography. This allows me to concentrate fully on my model and the ropes. The photographs are almost created "in passing" - from the immediate experience and observation of the bound body.
All work is created without assistants or additional photographers. This intimate and trusting atmosphere allows for a special closeness and concentration on the moment. This results in photographs of great density, intensity, and emotional presence.
