Collection: Kornelia Quade

Kornelia Quade was born in Berlin-Tegel in 1952. During her school years, she received formative art instruction from Siegfried Kühl on Scharfenberg Island. After graduating from high school, she studied sports and biology at the Berlin University of Education and later worked as a teacher, but always remained closely connected to art. At the same time, she took numerous courses, including life drawing, screen printing, and linocut.

From the late 1970s to the mid-1980s, she met important artists such as Hannah Höch, Heinz Hajek-Halke, Hermann Glöckner, and Heinrich Richter, who had a lasting influence on her and reinforced her desire to study art. From 1991 to 1996, she studied Fine Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts and subsequently passed her state examination.

Her preferred subjects include nude drawings, often created while traveling, as well as collages made from colored paper found in illustrated magazines. Her work ranges from intimacy and eroticism to playful lightness, while also addressing political and social issues. Extensive travels through Asia, including to China, Nepal, and India, broadened her artistic horizons well into the 2000s.
