Collection: Arwa Lucky

Born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1997. Has lived and worked in Bonn, Germany since 2016.

While studying computer science, Lucky continued to develop her artistic style. Lucky’s bold and at times explicit imagery deals with the distortion of female sexuality. Executed in high-contrast, rich colours, her work refuses to leave these themes in the shadows.
In her ongoing series “Women” (working title), she explores the highly controlled realities of the female body. By depicting faceless female bodies, the series serves as a relentless examination of bodily autonomy and addresses issues such as genital mutilation and abortion. By deliberately omitting faces, individual identity is removed to reflect the reduction of femininity to a childbearing vessel. Lucky's digital series "Pussy Riot" (2020) explores the disturbing intersection of sexual shame, mutilation, desire and fetishism. To expand her artistic practice beyond the studio, Lucky founded "Redflag" in 2026, an exhibition platform that focuses on queer and immigrant artists - in response to the rise of right-wing politics in Germany.

Thematically, Lucky's work engages in a dialogue with artists such as Paula Rego and Graça Morais, whose works she encountered in 2026 during a trip to Lisbon.
