Stefan Thiel
Stefan Thiel (1965, Berlin) lives and works on the Baltic coast near Warnemünde. His works are represented in important private and public collections, including the Nationalgalerie Berlin, the German Bundestag, the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, and the Fondation Bodmer in Geneva.
At the heart of his work is the exploration of sexuality, particularly evident in the series "100 Berlin-based Men." Over several years, Thiel portrayed athletes in precise silhouettes that simultaneously address body awareness, intimacy, and social codes.
His works have been shown, among others, in the exhibition “Homosexualities” (Landesmuseum Münster, 2015) and in a solo exhibition at the Schwules Museum Berlin (2018).
