Petyo Petrov was born on October 16, 1968, in Pleven, Bulgaria. His artistic career began at a young age and eventually led to his graduation from the "Professor Venko Kolev" National School of Applied Arts in Troyan, Bulgaria, in 1987.

After completing his studies, Petyo moved to Spain, where he lived for eight years. During his time in Madrid, he organized his own exhibitions and actively participated in group shows. His work gained recognition, and he is proud to count figures such as Pedro Almodóvar, Rossy de Palma, Carmen Sevilla, the Duchess of Alba, and Rafaela Carrà among his esteemed collectors. Upon returning to Bulgaria, Petyo became involved in the art scene through several television interviews in Pleven and Sofia, as well as through his own exhibitions. He eventually moved to the Netherlands, where he has lived ever since. In Friesland, he continues to present his work in solo and group exhibitions and also focuses on private sales.

Petyo Petrov is primarily known as an abstract and contemporary artist whose creative repertoire encompasses various styles, including figurative art, queer art, minimalism, cosmic art, and prints on paper. A lifelong passion for painting has evolved into a professional career, inspired by the mysteries of extraterrestrial life and the vastness of the universe, as well as by a profound exploration of queer identity and eroticism. Petyo believes in a special connection to extraterrestrial life, which is clearly reflected in his "cosmic" paintings. At the same time, he openly integrates his sexual orientation into his work, which serves as a significant source of inspiration. His artistic versatility allows him to draw creative impulses from a wide range of sources and experiences, resulting in a rich and diverse portfolio that showcases his multifaceted talent.
