Born in Dortmund in 1970, the artist combines interdisciplinary training in special education, English studies, home economics, and communication design with a focus on photography. After studying at the University of Dortmund (2000–2004) and the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences (2004–2011), he worked as a photo editor and later as art director at LUUPS Magazine .

In 2015, he founded Selfiegrafen , a platform for participatory photography projects at the intersection of art and media education. He has been awarded the Dieter Baacke Prize (2018, 2020) multiple times for projects such as NeoEnkel and Recht & Würde . Further recognition has come from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia ( Under my skin , 2017) and UZWEI_Kulturelle Bildung, among others.

Since 2017, he has also worked as a lecturer in cultural and political education. In 2021, he founded Klartext Kultur , a platform for socially engaged cultural work. His photographic work has received international recognition, including a Portrait of Britain award (British Journal of Photography, 2020) and awards from APA, FAPA, and the Chromatic Award.

Since 2023 he has been a member of the German Society for Photography (DGPh).
