Marty
Marty (Marcin Firmanty) is a Polish visual artist working with drawing and painting. In his artistic practice, he explores themes such as masculinity, intimacy, and queer identity through figurative compositions that combine classical pictorial traditions with a contemporary sensibility.
The male body is central to his works, appearing as a carrier of memory, emotion, and symbolic meaning. Inspired by historical iconography, mythology, and religious motifs, the artist reinterprets these visual worlds from a modern perspective, often imbuing them with a subtle homoerotic tension and psychological depth.
Through detailed pencil drawings, expressive line work, and painterly techniques, his works oscillate between classical study and personal narrative. Marty often depicts mature male figures whose physical presence expresses strength, vulnerability, and human connection simultaneously.
The artist lives and works in Poland, while also maintaining close artistic ties to Berlin and its vibrant contemporary and queer art scene.
