Collection: Lars van Roosendaal

Lars van Roosendaal (1977, Leiden, Netherlands) is a visual artist and designer living in Vienna. In his paintings, drawings, and installations, he explores queerness, intimacy, and the body as a site of transformation.

His works combine a vibrant visual language with multifaceted narratives that reflect the beauty and vulnerability of queer existence. Between pride and prejudice, belonging and exclusion, psychological tensions of compelling depth unfold.

After studying at the Design Academy Eindhoven and the University of Applied Sciences The Hague, he trained as a graphic designer in Vienna and worked in the design field for several years before returning to fine art.

From 2009 to 2013, he designed the wayfinding system for the Life Ball, the world's largest AIDS charity event.

Since 2019, he has shown his works in solo and group exhibitions, including Close Encounters – (Un)heimliche Begegnungen (2019), Pride, Shame & Prejudice! (2020), I Just Want to Be a Good Boy! (2024), PRIMAL MATTER 4.0 (2025) and UNBOUND 2025 in Berlin.

He lives and works in Vienna with his husband, singer and vocal coach Mario Amiro, and their daughter.
