Holger Sommer
Born in Krefeld in 1963, Holger Sommer discovered his passion for drawing at an early age. After completing his training in the clothing industry and graduating as a master tailor for men's and women's clothing, he continually developed his artistic practice – including through nude drawing courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
His works combine various materials and techniques, such as fabrics, graphite, oil, watercolor, pastels, markers, and ink. The man is the central motif. Sommer is currently particularly dedicated to depicting male couples in moments of intimate proximity. Inspired by the illustrated book "Loving" (Neal Treadwell & Hugh Nini), he transforms these scenes using mixed media, combining polychromos, pastels, and graphite to create vibrant, emotional visual worlds.
