Gottfried
Gottfried is a multidisciplinary artist with an academic education in fine arts
Art and philosophy. He studied art at the UAL University of the Arts London (Great Britain) and philosophy at Bielefeld University (Germany). In his work, Gottfried explores questions of male intimacy, relationships, and closeness. In doing so, Gottfried conceptually combines the sophisticated technique of woodcut with contemporary aesthetic formal language. Gottfried's artistic practice is characterized by conveying a positive image of intimacy and closeness between men. However, the question of the individual significance and fragility of male intimacy is always also raised. A recurring theme in his art is the formation of self-confidence and one's own identity through intimate encounters with others.
Gottfried was born in 1972. He lives and works in Düsseldorf.
