Ennio Nobili
Ennio Nobili is an Italian-born, Berlin-based artist working as Ennio Nobili Ceramics. His art bridges classic craftsmanship and contemporary queer expression, reducing his works to their raw, monochrome essence to guide the viewer’s eye toward weight, volume, and silhouette.
In this exhibition, Nobili explores the tension between softness and structure, creating a silent yet powerful presence in the space. He presents a selection from his series “Phallophoria” as well as a new collection of black ceramic sculptures, conceived as functional yet aesthetic explorations of intimacy and form.
“Phallophoria” is an ongoing series of vessels and sculptures adorned with large phalli. Drawing from ancient traditions in Greece and Rome, where the phallus symbolized fertility, protection, and prosperity, the project reclaims these motifs as both personal and cultural expressions. Inspired by objects such as tintinnabula and herms, “Phallophoria” reconnects decorative art with ritual, positioning the erotic as a site of power, protection, and queer visibility.
