Brendan Enright

Brendan Enright – a queer artist from Ireland, raised in London. After many years in Germany, Canada, the USA, and France, he now lives back in Ireland.

His roots lie in linocut and screen printing, as well as textile techniques such as knitting, dyeing, and embroidery. This is the origin of the bold contours, flat colors, and layered surfaces of his painting.

In brightly colored, figurative works in acrylic, ink, and drawing, bodies, plants, animals, religious symbols, and fragments of art history collide in dreamlike scenes. With humor and visual pleasure, he explores desire, intimacy, shame, masculinity, and queer experience.
