Even before my first menstruation, I learn that bleeding must be hidden. In middle school, I hear the rumor that an older student bled through onto a chair. What remains is the fear that the same thing could happen to me.
In May 2026, I intentionally leave a trace of my bleeding on a wooden chair. The blood on the seat is fixed – just as experiences of shame, control, and exposure also leave their marks. The work refers to the early learned fear of visibility among many menstruating people and to the anger that arises from this shaming.
