My work, titled "blood in cycles," represents my feelings about my menstrual cycle.
Always recurring, always red, always painful. The nature of my body, a body with a uterus. For me, texture was meaningful, rough and prickly, yet also smooth and shiny. Proximity to my body was important to me, which is why I worked with my blood and also with my hands. The circles moving in spirals are an essential symbol because the circle/spiral is infinite, just like the menstruating women of our world, for without menstruation, without the cycle, there would be no people. My work is a simple representation with a lot of meaning, and I look forward to people being able to see it in this exhibition.
