'Pure Red Life' depicts real life with menstrual blood. Tampons, pads, menstrual sponges or cups, or free bleeding, etc. – We women use what fits, what is possible, what is bearable, what is wanted, what is tolerated and accepted. But it's time to RETHINK – It's not us who have to adapt, but the environment to us. Menstrual blood is the most natural thing in the world – it is part of life. MENSTRUAL BLOOD IS LIFE. STOP PERIOD SHAMING.
We need more naturalness, openness, more reality and spaces for changing period products – public restrooms with sinks, period products on demand, possibly the option to shower, to wash ourselves, without having to pay extra for it. We must be allowed to talk openly about it – without SHAME and FEAR of rejection and ridicule. It must become as normal to bleed, to talk about it and to ask for help, as it is to ask for water to drink or for directions.
Too often we still have to hide, secretly go to the toilets. Hands are covered in blood, underwear and clothes, because the bleeding was too heavy. How can something so natural be seen as so unnatural?
We need more COURAGE TO BLEED.
